Mother Nature Takes Second Win of the Season at Ponderosa Speedway
Junction City, KY-June 1, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway was set to kick off the month of June with a full program of weekly racing series competition, but Mother Nature would have other plans and dumped a large amount of rain on the grounds late Thursday night and again early Friday morning, forcing track officials to have to cancel the racing program scheduled for Friday evening June 1.
Ponderosa Speedway will now be off the next couple of weeks. The track is closed on the weekend of June 8 and June 9 for the Dream 100 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH and the track will also be closed on Friday June 15 and Saturday June 16 for the Lake Cumberland Classic at nearby Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY.
The next racing action set for Ponderosa Speedway will be a doubleheader weekend of racing action. On Friday June 22, the track will present a full racing program of weekly racing series competition for all divisions. On Saturday, June 23 the track will present the 17th Annual Pete Abell Memorial event that will pay $2,000 to win for the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, along with a full program of racing action for all other divisions.
Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday May 25 and feature event winners included Victor Lee of Danville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, Gerald Haynes, Jr. of Somerset, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and Rusty Light of Nancy, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.
Current track championship points leaders heading into the June 22 and June 23 racing weekend doubleheader include Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and Brandon Lucas of New Haven, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.
